Accelerating the Western North Carolina Biofuels Industry Project - Advantage West Economic Development Group

The Accelerating the Western North Carolina Biofuels Industry Project is a collaborative regional initiative led by AdvantageWest under guidance from the EvolveEnergy Partnership that aims to measurably advance biofuels commercialization, production and companies in Western North Carolina through three core project activities: (1) Feedstock testing and analysis to support the development of a 300,000 gallons per year third-generation biodiesel production facility in WNC; (2) Demonstrating a “field to fryer to fuel” (F3) business model to expand the production and use of biofuels sourced from regionally grown oilseed crops; and (3) Conducting a biofuels end-user market survey and regional marketing initiative. Additional project partners include Algaenan Energy Corporation, Appalachian State University, The Biltmore Company, Blue Ridge Biofuels, Blue Ridge Food Ventures, Land-of-Sky Regional Council, NC State Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center and Old Dominion University.
